The Public Information Office is the “community contact” point for the Fire Department. This is the department that handles news media inquiries and makes routine announcements to the media about items of interest involving the Shelby County Fire Department. The Public Information Office is also the clearing house for neighborhood organizations, churches and community groups interested in knowing more about the Fire Department. The Fire Department meets often with community groups. Contact the Public Information Office if you are interested having the Fire Department visit your organization, church or neighborhood association. The Public Information Office provides “hands-on” service to the community. Representatives tour neighborhoods to gain insight about building and fire prevention trends and work with other government agencies to address any problems that might be reported. The Public Information Office can also assist if you’re interested in volunteering for special programs offered by the Fire Department to help people of all ages. You may learn more about these volunteer programs by clicking over to Explorers.
